Cookeville, Tennessee is almost centrally located between Knoxville, Nashville, Chattanooga and Lexington, Kentucky. Therefore it is nicknamed "The Hub". It is also the economic center for it's surrounding towns making it more than just another college town.
Cookeville doesn't just support it's own population of 28,000 people in the city proper. It reportedly handles upwards of 200,000 people. Drive by restaurant row on a weekend, and it sure feels like it.
Several years ago, Cookeville received some notoriety when it was named America's Most Affordable City. It continues to rank high with that title each year. It owns the distinction of being one of the only towns of it's size to have a self-sustaining symphony orchestra as well - not to be outdone in the arts apparently.
But the most charming aspect of Cookeville is its natural beauty. Located on a plateau of the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, the seat of Putnam County just begins to rise and fall winding with trails and forests and rivers and falls. It's ideally seasonal with a full spectrum of changing weather without the extremes.
In the summer time, I take my laptop out on my front porch and listen to my neighbor's pond fountain. It's been hot this summer, perfect for staying inside and working! We've had a lot of rain too, and the gardens and hydrangeas are growing like crazy.
The view outside my windows are lush and green. I'm grateful for the scenery; the atmosphere and pleasant place to call home and work.
I look forward to continuing to serve my friends and neighbors in this beautiful part of the country, and if you're not from around here, I'd love to introduce you to Cookeville, Tennessee. It's a wonderful place to work and play. Come by for a visit any time.
