Streamlined Web Design Support Process

Friday, April 16th, 2010 by Jen

After painstakingly researching how to make life easier on both me and my clients I’ve finally weighed the costs verses the benefits and found the best cost solution for Drillerweb. It wasn’t easy. There have to be no less than thousands of project management, invoicing, estimating, time-tracking, CRM, support, ticketing software and hosted solutions out there.

Whew! I wore myself out!

I would find a PERFECT program … and it would lack just one thing. That one thing would be a deal breaker. It was such heart breaking research. So many programs came so close, but no cigar, as the saying goes.

My standards are high admittedly. I want simple project management with tasks and time-tracking (including an actual timer). I want to be able to fill out estimates or quotes and turn them into projects or invoices when a client accepts them. I want my clients to be able to login and collaborate on projects, see their invoices, pay through paypal, and create support tickets. I also want to be able to keep notes and files associated with clients and projects.

That’s about it. All I require.

I found it all in Worketc. I was hoping to be able to purchase a system and set it up on our servers, but I’ve learned that there is no PERFECT system.

I do know I can’t keep all that stuff on my computer. I go through computers and harddrives too frequently. So whether it’s hosted on my servers or someone else’s – as long as it’s backed up and secure, that’s a better solution than sitting on my fragile desktop here.

So, what that means for my clients – no more lost emails and scraps of papers with To-Do’s. No more multiple logins for hosting, invoices, estimates, support, docs, and projects.

I will have everything accessible through Drillerweb.com shortly. I will also be setting up an email mailing list to keep you all up to date whether you’re a hosting client or a web dev client or a freelance client or more than one.

You will be able to access a knowledgebase and training articles as well.

One important piece of information you need right away (buried here at the bottom of this article) is that all support tickets are accessed through the email address: support@drillerweb.com.

Hip to be Square?

Friday, March 26th, 2010 by Jen

1208685_73193185Is it just me or are you completely tired of the term “hip”? Isn’t it just a little overused? Another good one is “relevant”. We web designers use those words to try to convince you that we know what people want.

What’s the written equivalent of a blowing a raspberry? ffffbbbttt!?

It’s so five minutes ago to claim to know what’s “hip”. It’s even more passe to claim to be hip when you’re more likely to be someone who needs hip replacement. C’mon! “Hip” is an old word anyway. There’s nothing worse than trying to fit in. The best we can do is allow ourselves to NOT get in the way of what YOU want. That’s it.

As designer’s we’re given to our own interpretation of art, however, web design is unique in that it is more marketing than it is entertainment. It’s business. Web sites are created to sell something -whether it’s a product, a service, or a message. So being hip or relevant really isn’t the issue. It may be what folks like to hear, but that’s just salesmanship or fluff.

What you really need to know is, can your web design or marketing agency get themselves out of the way enough to find out the best way to market your product, service or message? Sometimes whatever “hip” is won’t do that. Being the “coolest” kid on the block may sound enticing, but will it be the best cost solution to getting your goal’s met?

Are we grown ups yet?

Are we in business or are we in grade school?

Let’s dispense with the catch-phrases, shall we? We’ve been “hooked” and tag-lined enough, wouldn’t you say?

Personally, I’m ready for some real conversation about how to get things done.  How about you?

Why Choose Drillerweb?

Monday, March 22nd, 2010 by Jen

Although many firms can build web sites, Drillerweb builds sites that get results.  Getting our clients results doesn’t just make for a nice tagline; it’s why we stand-alone.  How do we do this you ask?

Great question.

First, we listen very carefully to you.  You tell us what you hope to accomplish with your site and we help you develop a strategy, design a site and implement content on an ongoing basis that will help you reach your goals.

Next, you should know who will design and build your site.  Of course we are great designers and developers but also usability and web site conversion experts as well.  This is a fancy way of saying that not only will your site look great and work as it should, but attract and speak to your target audience convincing them to take the actions you want them to take.

Last but certainly not least, we actually care about you, your company and your site.  No really, we do.  We know that hiring a vendor can be a very different experience and in some cases, perhaps not as desirable as hiring employees for your projects.  But here’s where we’re different.  You won’t be just “another project”.   And we won’t treat you like one.  We value your thoughts, your opinions, your time, and yes…even your resources.

At Drillerweb, we’re happy when you are.  And we mean that.

Web Marketing Solutions for Every Need

Monday, March 22nd, 2010 by Jen

We Could Be Your Next AH-HA Moment

We design for both the end-user and as a sub-contractor for other web design and marketing firms. Our tag line “integrity is our niche” is more than just a catchy phrase. It is the reason we can do business for this unique mix of clientele. We never try to compete with those we are trying to help. It’s this very brand of excellence that attracts us to so many ordinary businesses.

Our prices are flexible enough to meet most budgets because of our expertise in keeping costs low, yet they reflect our competency as well. We’re not fly-by-nights working for beer and cigarettes here.

After over a decade of business prowess, we’ve maintained a good reputation, a stable work load, and a growing portfolio.

We’d love to add you to our group of friends here. Give us a call or drop us an email. If you like those online forms, we’ve got those too. We’ll meet you where you’re at, talk about your project, and see if we can do business together
